Mission Statement:

SCCM NorCal (the Society of Critical Care Medicine, Northern California Chapter) is a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization serving the needs of multidisciplinary critical care professionals spanning the state North-South from Del Norte to Monterey County and West-East to the Nevada border. We aim to foster collaboration among caregivers at the regional level for the enhancement of patient care. Chapter members include physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals in the critical care arena.

Our chapter is organized and operates exclusively for educational, scientific and charitable purposes. We seek to improve care for patients with acute life-threatening illnesses and injuries and to promote and engage in training, facility development and ethical awareness inherent to this mission.

The NorCal Chapter provides its members with educational opportunities, professional resources and a chance for networking with other critical care professionals across the region. We host an annual Research Symposium in spring, showcasing the work of our members-in-training and providing a forum to learn about critical care research and quality improvement projects being conducted in Northern California. We periodically hold other educational events to foster improvements in the care of critically ill patients and build professional relationships among their caregivers.
